District Technician
The Jasper County Soil and Water Conservation District has an opening for a Full Time District Technician. The primary function of the position is to promote the application of conservation practices on farmland while working with Ag Producers in Jasper County. The technician will meet with landowners in the office and in the field. This position is responsible for the design of a conservation plan, layout of the needed conservation practices on the farm, and checking out the construction of completed plans. Technical training and a company truck will be provided. The position will also be working with employees of the Natural Resource Conservation Service and other state and federal agencies. Position will be expected to work outdoors over uneven terrain and perform general office duties such as answering the phone and filing.
Applicant is required to have a high school diploma, though a college degree is preferred. Strong computer skills and good public speaking skills are required. Knowledge in the areas of agriculture, soil science, soil conservation, natural resource management, public speaking, and computer mapping will be beneficial to obtaining the position.
Full time (40 hours) Monday-Friday, with paid state and federal holidays, annual and sick leave, health insurance, and retirement benefits begin day one.
Starting pay $16/hr. with opportunities for a raise after 90 days and 1 year. Wage progression is offered through completion of training and length of service in addition to meeting job expectations. A 90 day probationary period is given. Interviews will be held by the Jasper County Soil and Water Conservation District Board.
